The Lovely Miss Linda

When I tell people I married "up", they laugh and the conversation moves along. Little do they know... Yesterday in GR shopping for home furnishings, a Middle Eastern/Greek cuisine lunch stop: In a cruel twist of gustatory fate, we got here by chance, having initially targeted a Five Guys right next door. On a hunch, we went in, sat down, and she ended up ordering, of all things, an olive burger. At least I stepped out of that zone with a Gyro "The Best". (that was the menu entry - it was pretty good!)

More snow... shot today...

A little labor got me out back for just a few more images of the event. I know, I'm fixated, but I've had months of "nuthin'" in my inbox save work, work, work, so cut me a bit o' slack por favor. First up, the pup is now privy to the privy: Next, the drifts were front and back, close to the house, and I normally clear the decks after, so to speak. Not this time. Not only does the snow stick to the shovel, but it is loaded with water. Note the lovely peaks and valleys of the drifts: And of course, when I clear the decks, we have access to the hot tub. Let's see how that's gonna work: June, perhaps? And who wouldn't want the grill perspective? That's my generator on the left, and the little box under the island top is a sending unit for a thermometer: Yep. 13 inches and it's compressed and melted a bit from 34 degrees yesterday. Last but not least, a look from inside, over the sink, over the grill, to see th...

For starters, no grillin' tonight, honey... And of course, now you see it, now you don't... four days separate the pics. And, two snow days for schools... imagine. I counted a foot, and it was wet. Very. I did half the driveway due to snow weight. Had nothing to do with my physical prowess. Nothing. Actually I should have hit it once the night before. Oh and let's see... Won't be hittin' the hot tub either. Those would be 3+ foot drifts. Probably an hour to clear the decks, literally. And then there's a foot and a half on the tub cover.  (editor's note: once I got the outside perspective the next day, I realized that an hour is foolishly shy as an estimate - unless I had a Bobcat)

President's Day 2016

I read today where Mick Jagger's first hit was Time Is On My Side, and it was 51 years ago. I stand alone, I think, in noting the irony of this. After I pick myself up from the floor from falling over with the realization that that's five decades ago. Am I really that old??? My Valentine made me this breakfast Juevos Rancheros In other news, I've revived my walking the 'hood for health reasons. Hitting 3 miles today.
Knee replacement My ACL was whacked in high school and in 1994 it was correctly diagnosed and replaced. That fix failed in a mere 20 years and that  resulted in surgery Nov. 23, 2015.  So now I sport titanium and plastic where once there was... some deteriorating bone mass. Oh and the doc left in one of the old ACL screws as it had lodged in the bone. So much for having a screw loose.
