Rink blues

Hard to believe there's so little to say, and a whole Internet upon which keyboarded drivel can be inflicted. Talk about the show about nothing.

The rink is soup and Mother Nature is 0-2 in two consecutive seasons. O where is the winter of my youth? Howling winds, driven snow, days off school...

No matter. Best constructed rink ever, best rink liner ever (this one actually holds water!), and best lighting scheme ever. But no ice.

So we are compensating for this by logging beaucoup ice arena hours, following (bringing? not!) Jamie to venues throughout Michigan, studying Google maps and handheld GPS directions to the Ice Cube, Eddie Edgar, Devon-Aire and various other Colisea (right?) and arenae (right?) .

Boy do we know how to partee.

I don't remember so many days without school. Why were you not there? Cripes, without Dave Leu and me, you wouldn't have an honest history.

One thing I remember was coming back home from skiing with George Goodell. January 2, '66 or '67, I think. Rode the Greyhound bus from Traverse City because I didn't have the use of a diver's license at the time (ahem). When the bus arrived in East Lansing, I was sweaty in my ski jacket. Fifty, dry, and sunny.

Of course, Traverse City ski areas were in operation...and the fifty degrees was a notable exception.
Steve,

It looks like you are off and running again, setting the high tech lead with your our blog site. Too much. I must agree with Stan. I only remember a few days of school cancelled due to snow (or ice). And those days were during the 1962(?) Chicago storm.

Look forward to future postings.

Hey, fun! I know it feels a bit like selling your soul to the devil, but personally, I'm glad for a way to keep up with you and yours, long-distance... Glad to "see" you "here." (Weird stuff, this new-fangled inter-web.)

Much love!

Point: the Lansing Ski Club
Point: two ice rinks at Marble
Point: a Sat. football game in Adrian
Point: shoveling snow off roofs

I know it was long ago, but look at my dad... he remembers more about Bellevue than he does Erickson Hall. Methinks a couple of you are heading down the same path.

Joanna - true is true. Just don't expect anything astute (see the next lines)....

And Mark Larsen, take this:

Pelosi!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha
