Grand Openings
We are a simple folk, easily amused.
And we've shopped at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods everywhere but here, because, well, they aren't here. Ann Arbor, West Bloomfield, Chicago, yes.
Note that Linda is forever searching for some ingredient for a recipe. It's a chronic condition. Some people look for love (in all the wrong places). Some search for that next fix. Others, the perfect sunset, or the world's largest ball of string, or the next bird, or another win, right, Cub fans? (btw great no-hitter last night there!!!).
Linda, she looks for the unusual and esoteric rarity, and Joe and Whole are to her what a shoe store... is to her.
When Trader Joe's opened in Grand Rapids this fall, it turned out we were there on opening day, and her heartbeat quickened and her countenance beamed, and a tradition was born:
When the East Lansing Whole Foods was announced, woo hoo!!! She was beside herself. Oh and beside me, having me drive by the site nearly every other week to "check" on progress. And with her geographically-challenged skill set, she's always very pleasantly surprised when we "stumble" upon it.
It's so precious to see that joy... never gets old.
We missed opening day due to our Nashville trip, but that was a fine swap. However, on return, first chance we got, off we went, out behind Tom's Party Store off Grand River hard by Park Lake Road for those who are familiar with EL.
Of course, the former Ms. Azzarello hit the olive bar and was drunk with joy.
And to complete the visual tour, two more views:
You might be worried that it appeared I was stalking her, but point of fact, she was goin' home with the one what brung her. Which is good, always.
