Guns

If you've read my earlier posts, I'm arguing against arming people in schools. This is another iteration of the argument.

People who are trained and comfortable with weapons... still make mistakes. The problem with guns, as opposed to knives, axes, hammers, crowbars, and sticks and stones?

Lethal force.

I understand that the articles I'm posting here are anecdotal. You understand that, because of the NRA in 1995 or thereabouts, it's illegal for the CDC to collect data on gun stuff. Thus, all we have are anecdotal data. But that's a whole different rant.

Here, we have a 60-year-old man who is cleaning a gun, then showing it to his wife, then fatally shooting himself in the chest.

Who in the world a) cleans a gun with a round in the chamber, or b) throws a round in there at the kitchen table? With all the patches and lubricants and brushes and detritus associated with gun cleaning there on the table?

One less person, that's the sad truth.
